What Writers Ask Us Most

For literary fiction, 70,000–110,000 words is the comfortable commercial range. Poetry collections usually run 48–120 pages. Non-fiction we will consider from 45,000 words upward if the argument earns the length. These are guides, not gates — a brilliant 130,000-word novel will still get read.

No. We read unagented submissions and always have. Roughly two-thirds of the books we published last year arrived directly from the author through the form on our publication page.

It stays with you. We license the right to publish for a defined term and territory; we never purchase copyright outright. If a title goes out of print, all rights revert to you automatically.

Nothing. We are a traditional publisher, not a vanity press. We pay for editing, design, printing, distribution and marketing, and we recover that from sales. If anyone asks a writer for money to be published, that is a warning sign worth heeding.
